Accessibility and Keyboard Tips

The Accessibility command is available throughout Integra and appears at the top of your screen. It allows you to set the font size and to vary the contrast settings for text display. It can also be used to customise your keyboard.

·       Tabbing and + Key: You can set the + key on your numeric keypad to cycle between mandatory fields. The Tab and Shift+Tab keys will continue to be available to tab backwards and forwards through all items.

·       Banner commands and Access Key Numbers: You can assign number keys to the following commands which appear in the Integra banner at the top of your screen:

Home, Navigate, Favourites, Tools, Accessibility, Help and Logout.

·       Standard Commands and Access Key Letters: You can assign letter keys to some standard commands. It is best to specify a letter which is used somewhere in the command name; the letter will then be underlined on the Integra interface to serve as reminder of the key. You cannot mix the letters: if you pick O for Options for example, you should pick K for OK. The following commands can be assigned:

Back, Cancel, Search, Save, Options, OK, Clear, and Next.

Once the letter or number is assigned, hold the Alt key while pressing the assigned letter on your keyboard to access the command.

Keyboard Tips

If you are a frequent user of Integra, it would be worthwhile to familiarise yourself with techniques for using the keyboard instead of the mouse for navigation and data entry.

·       Navigating to fields and other items: You navigate backwards and forwards through an Integra program using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys. A dotted rectangle is used to highlight the item you have navigated to - the item with the focus. If a command has the  focus, pressing Enter will activate it.

·       Accessing multiple tabs: On programs where a large number of fields are arranged in multiple tabs, you can switch tabs by going to the first field, then pressing Shit+Tab to go the tab title and the right and left arrow keys to move between the tabs. If you have the + key for tabbing enabled as explained above, you can use it to navigate quickly to the first (mandatory) field.

·       Entering dates: Navigate to a date field and enter 0 to specify today's date. Press the + or - key followed by a number to add or subtract some days from the date currently shown. On a date field with a default of today for example, press +7 to reset it for the same day next week. Also note that once a date field has the focus, you can use the up and down arrow keys to isolate the day, month and year elements. Press the down arrow and enter a number if you need to reset the day only.

·       Checkboxes and radio buttons: Once you've navigated to these items, the spacebar can be used to reset them.

·       Drop-down lists: The arrow keys can be used to cycle through the options available. You can also type an initial letter to locate an item quickly.

·       Lookups: If there is a lookup, press F9 to activate it.

·       Field and control information: If a field or a control such as a command button has the focus, pressing F8 will reveal some technical information about it. This information is used to develop items such as user-defined enquiries, security targets and user-defined help.
